TVH Consulting through its employees

Back
Can you tell us about your background?

I am a Production Engineer. It was during this course that I became familiar with the field of ERP, at a time when we still talked more about ‘Multi-module Software Suite’ that included MRP.

I first started at Steria, where I initially worked on BaaN (acquired in the early 2000s by Infor) and then in 2002, the company Navision sought partners among some large IT services companies. That’s how I got into this field.

How did you come to know TVH and why did you decide to join us?

Through my ‘trainer’ on Axapta (Sven Jochimsen, to be precise) to whom I asked, “Who among the French players on AX had the most potential?” My previous employer was ending part of its ERP activities: I preferred to participate in the adventure of AX development rather than join the Oracle/JDE or SAP teams.

What does the job of a Consultant at TVH entail?

A consultant must support the Key User in the project and in the client’s transformation since it is not just a change of ERP most of the time. While they must initially have a good understanding of the businesses and functions they will navigate, they must especially listen and learn very quickly: on ERP as well as on the client’s situation. Of course, they must make themselves indispensable, but they must also pass on their knowledge of the tool and document its use in the client’s context; the level of requirement on this point is constantly evolving.

The Project Manager, on the other hand, is a self-adaptive interface between the client (their business, their organization), the consultants, the project context (contract, schedule, methodology…) and TVH (Management, Staffing…). They have to juggle all these evolving constraints, many of which change during the project!

Do you have a project anecdote to share with us?

On the very first project I led at TVH (so this is for the veterans…), I would have loved to discover the Cannock Forest (near Birmingham), but the consultants didn’t inform me that they were going out.

If you had to describe TVH in one word?

A winning team.

What is your best memory at TVH?

Every Go Live…after some more or less long reflection time to appreciate the positive aspects.
